Error
Description
1901-S VAM-3 High S Tilted Right Discovered by Leonard Hinckley, February 1974. 3 III2 1 - C3b (High S Tilted Right) Reverse C3b - Mint mark set high and tilted slightly to the right. Emission Sequence Obverse: Reverse: Comments: Date is a FAR DATE, not listed in the official description. When working on the 1901-S series from Heritage's Archives they had 1250 coins, of which 550 from January 2010 forward. Coins passed 2010 aren't the quality needed for these pages. I didn't find a VAM-3 until around the 450th coin. I saw the scratch (gouge) and knew I had something new for me, as I only needed VAM-3 and VAM-5 and the date didn't correspond to a five and before I looked at the reverse I knew I had found the VAM-3. The arrows below shows the position of the gouge, that's all you need to lock VAM-3.
