Description
1896-O VAM-19 Shifted Date Discovered by John Baumgart, May 2001. This coin is a Hit List 40 Morgan VAM. 19(Formerly 1A) III2 13 · C3a (Shifted Date) (181) Obverse III2 13 – Very large vertical shift in date punches with initial punch high. Bottom of initial 8 punch shows as a slightly curved bar at top of 8 lower loop opening. 9 has raised metal at top of lower loop opening. Lower left of initial 6 punch shows as a triangular vertical bar with curved right side at upper left of 6 lower loop opening. Some specimens show a short horizontal line to left of bottom of 1 upper serif. Polishing lines in hair and LIBERTY.
