Description

Holding the lead position in the Wexler Team's catalog of 1892 Barber Dime repunched dates, WRPD-001 displays a dramatic 1892/892 repunching where the digits 8, 9, and 2 received a second punch displaced to the southwest, creating clearly doubled numerals visible under moderate magnification. The southwestern displacement means secondary digit impressions appear below and to the left of the primaries. As the inaugural year of Charles Barber's dime design, the 1892 date carries particular numismatic significance — the Barber Dime replaced the Seated Liberty design and served until 1916. Multiple die cracks appear on both sides, with fractures through the portrait and wreath indicating substantial structural deterioration during extended service.
