1889-P VAM-18 Doubled Ear, Slanted Very Far Date, Denticle Impressions Below Arrow Feathers Discovered by Leroy Van Allen, January 1982. Revised by C. Logan McKechnie September 2002. Revised 2012 This coin is a Hot 50 Morgan VAM. 18 (revised) III2 18 - C3a (Doubled Ear, Slanted Very Far Date, Denticle Impressions Below Arrow Feathers) (190) Obverse III2 18- Ear slightly doubled at left inside and right outside. Slightly doubled lower edge of hair above ear and lower cotton leaves. Slanted date set much further right than normal with 1 higher than 9. Diagnostic - Slanted very far date with 1 higher than 9. Reverse C3a - Three raised triangles in a row with denticle spacing below arrow feathers.
