Description
1881-S VAM-32 Doubled 88, S Set Left, Doubled Top Reverse Discovered by Martin Field, August 1980. 32(revised) III2 8 · C3n (Doubled 88, S Set Left, Doubled Top Reverse) (184) Obverse III2 8 - First 8 doubled on top surface inside and bottom outside of lower loop and left inside ond right outside of top loop. Second 8 has bulge at top left outside of lower loop. Reverse C3n– IV S mint mark set left with slight tilt to left. TED, STATES OF AMERICA, motto, right wreath leaves, top leaves of left wreath and top of eagle’s head slightly doubled towards rim. Mint mark is repunched with original showing as a short spike at far left inside of upper loop opening. Emission Sequence Obverse: 1881-S VAM-16, 1881-S VAM-2, 1881-S VAM-32 Reverse: Comments: The 1881-S VAM-90, 1881-S VAM-2, 1881-S VAM-32 and the 1881-S VAM-16 were made with the exact same obverse die. The LVA attributed specimen below comes with a polished obverse and a polished reverse.
