Description
1880-O VAM-17 8/7 Check Mark, Medium O Discovered by Leroy Van Allen, December 1976. This coin is a Hot 50 Morgan VAM. 17 III2 13 - C3b (Check Mark, Medium O) Obverse III2 13- 8 repunched over 7. Remains of 7 show on the surface of left side of second 8 in the form of a check mark. Short vertical bar on surface at right side of junction of 8's loops extending down into side of top of lower opening. Second 8 is doubled on lower left inside of upper loop. Reverse C3b- Medium, tall, II O mint mark centered and upright. ;Emission Sequence :Obverse: :Reverse: Comments: # This obverse shared with [[1880-O VAM-16, [[1880-O VAM-17, [[1880-O VAM-17A, [[1880-O VAM-55 & [[1880-O VAM-633. # Same obverse as [[1880-O VAM-16 but different reverse. 1880-O VAM-17 reverse letters all have die chips and breaks at the top. # Same reverse as [[1880-O VAM-41 but different obverse.
