1878-P VAM-79 Missing Nostril,Doubled Cotton Leaves Discovered by Clarence Brown, June 1966. This coin is a Hot 50 Morgan VAM. This coin is a Top 30 1878 Variety 79 II/I 35 B1a (Missing Nostril,Doubled Cotton Leaves) (180) Obverse II/I 35 - Slightly doubled LIBERTY shifted left. Doubled 2 through 7 stars on left and first three stars on right. Lower part of Liberty head nostril partially missing from over polished die. R of PLURIBUS doubled at top inside of upper loop. Hair, cotton bolls & leaves doubled on right side. Ear slightly doubled on right inside. Key identifier - Metal in loops of both 8's. (Also 201) Reverse B1a - Different die than VAM-70 .
