Revision January 2004 by Mark Kimpton and again October 2004 by Leroy Van Allen This coin is a Top 100 Morgan VAM as well as a 2011 John Roberts 11. 44A(revised) II/I 37 · B/Ad (3 TF, Clashed Obverse n & st, Reverse M) (179) Obverse II/I 37– Clashed die w/ partial incuse n of In from reverse showing next to Liberty's neck & partial incuse st of Trust from reverse showing in right hair vee of lower hair edge. Reverse B/Ad– Clashed die with raised designer’s initial M from obverse showing above d of God. DPIS – In 1878 dates were part of the master die so there is no variation in position. ;Emission Sequence :Obverse: :Reverse: Comments: # Rare # Same Doubled eagle's legs and doubled obverse as [[1878-P VAM-44. VAM-44A adds clashing, and there is some debate about whether VAM-44A is actually more common than [[1878-P VAM-44, and which variety should be priced higher.
