Where the 1872 gilt double eagle had showcased the legendary Amazonian design, this concluding version returns to the established Liberty Head motif. The gilt double eagle pattern, at the full $20 diameter with gold-plated surface, remains one of the most visually impressive objects in the Trade Dollar era series.
