Description
The 1867 Two Cent Piece is a cent produced at the Philadelphia Mint as part of the Two Cent Pieces 1864-1873 series. With a mintage of 2.9 million, this is a less common issue — the higher-mintage of the two mint variants, representing 100% of production. The obverse features a shield with a banner inscribed IN GOD WE TRUST — the first U.S. coin to bear this motto and the reverse displays a wreath enclosing 2 CENTS. Continued decline with a mintage of approximately 2.9 million. The denomination was increasingly redundant. Struck at the original U.S. Mint facility, in continuous operation since 1792. Estimated market value ranges from $154 to $3.6K depending on grade and condition. Struck in bronze, weighing 6.22 grams, 23 mm in diameter, with a plain edge. Cataloged as PCGS #3591.
