Description

Produced just one year after the conclusion of the Civil War, this 1866 Indian Head cent exhibits a die clash on the obverse where the wreath from the reverse die transferred through the feathers of the Indian head design. Die clashes occur when the obverse and reverse dies strike each other without a planchet between them, impressing elements of each die's design into the opposing die face.
