Strike Type
Coin Details
Description
Judd-454, Pollock-520, is a proof double eagle With Motto pattern presenting an alternative design arrangement from the J-452/J-453 die combination. This second die pair for the double eagle motto pattern offers a different configuration for the motto text and its relationship to the eagle device. Struck in copper with proof finish, this pattern provides comparison material for evaluating the two distinct motto placements that were considered for the twenty-dollar denomination. The adopted 1866 With Motto double eagle drew on these patterns. Cataloged as PCGS #60641.
