Description
The 1835 Classic Head Half Cent represents a Philadelphia Mint issue from the Classic Head Half Cents 1809-1836 series. The U.S. Mint produced 398,000 examples, making this the higher-mintage of the two mint variants, representing 100% of production. The obverse features Liberty facing left wearing a fillet or headband inscribed LIBERTY and the reverse displays a wreath enclosing HALF CENT. Penultimate year of regular production. Restrikes exist. The Philadelphia Mint, America's oldest coin-making facility, has struck coins continuously since 1792. Estimated market value ranges from $100 to $313 depending on grade and condition. Struck in copper, weighing 5.44 grams, 23.5 mm in diameter, with a plain edge. Cataloged as PCGS #1168.
