Description
Part of the Draped Bust Half Cents 1800-1808 series, the 1807 Draped Bust Half Cent is a cent from the Philadelphia Mint. With a mintage of 476,000, this is a less common issue. The obverse features Liberty facing right with draped bust and ribbon-bound hair, designed after a Gilbert Stuart portrait and the reverse displays a wreath enclosing HALF CENT. Produced during the earliest years of the United States Mint, when the young republic was establishing its monetary system and coinage traditions. Estimated market value ranges from $123 to $1.2K depending on grade and condition. Struck in copper, weighing 5.44 grams, 23.5 mm in diameter, with a plain edge. Cataloged as PCGS #1104.
