Description
The 1795 Flowing Hair Half Dollar represents a Philadelphia Mint issue from the Flowing Hair Half Dollars 1794-1795 series. With a mintage of 299,680, this is a less common issue — the lowest mintage among 6 mint variants, representing only 17% of total production. The obverse features Liberty facing right with flowing hair, surrounded by stars and the reverse displays a small, naturalistic eagle perched on a palm branch within a wreath. Second and final year of the Flowing Hair Half Dollar. Higher mintage makes it more accessible than the 1794. The 1795/1794 overdate variety exists. Philadelphia's mint — the nation's first — has produced coins without interruption since its founding in 1792. Estimated market value ranges from $3.1K to $43K depending on grade and condition. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 13.48 grams, 32.5 mm in diameter, with a lettered: fifty cents or half a dollar edge. Cataloged as PCGS #6052.
