Heritage Auctions' January 2025 FUN Sale Realizes $78 Million — Three Coins Top $2 Million
Heritage's Biggest FUN Sale Ever
Heritage Auctions' numismatic offerings at the January 2025 Florida United Numismatists (FUN) convention totaled $78,279,240 — making it the largest FUN sale in Heritage's history and one of the largest single-convention numismatic auctions ever held. U.S. coins alone accounted for $65.4 million of that total.

The 1927-D Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle — one of the great rarities of 20th-century gold coinage. View in the NumisDex catalog.
The 1927-D Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle is one of the great rarities of 20th-century American gold coinage. With a mintage of just 180,000, most were melted during the gold recall of 1933-34. High-grade survivors are exceptionally scarce.
The 1894-S Barber dime is one of the most legendary rarities in all of numismatics. Only 24 were struck and approximately 9 are confirmed to survive. At $2,160,000, this specimen reinforced the coin's status as one of the most valuable small-denomination coins in existence.
Heritage's Record-Breaking Year
The FUN sale was part of Heritage's broader 2025 performance:
- $2.158 billion in total sales across all categories — their fifth consecutive annual record
- $254.9 million in U.S. coins specifically
- $153.7 million in world and ancient coins
- $61.9 million in currency
For context, Heritage's total 2024 revenue was $1.867 billion (itself a record), meaning the firm grew by over 15% year-over-year.
What FUN Sales Tell Us
The January FUN convention is traditionally the year's first major numismatic event, and its auction results set the tone for the market. A strong FUN sale typically signals robust demand for the remainder of the year. The $78 million result — up from approximately $60 million at the January 2024 FUN — confirmed that the numismatic market's multi-year growth trajectory was accelerating, not plateauing.
The strength was broad-based: gold coins, silver dollars, early copper, patterns, and even currency all saw active bidding.
