About This Coin

The 2026 American Eagle Fifty Dollar Gold is a United States Gold Eagle from the American Eagle Fifty Dollar Gold 1986 to Date series. The obverse features Liberty striding forward holding a torch and olive branch, with rays of sunlight behind her — widely considered the most beautiful U.S. coin design — adapted from the 1907 Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle, the most revered U.S. coin design, while the reverse displays a family of eagles — an adult and two juveniles — in a nest, designed by Miley Busiek (1986-2020) or an eagle portrait by Jennie Norris, the redesigned reverse introduced in 2021 (2021+). Designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens (obverse) / Miley Busiek (reverse 1986-2020) / Jennie Norris (reverse 2021+). The one-ounce American Gold Eagle is the flagship of the U.S. Mint's gold bullion program, containing one troy ounce of 22-karat (.9167 fine) gold alloyed with silver and copper for durability. The obverse adapts the beloved Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle design. Like its silver counterpart, the reverse was redesigned in 2021. The bullion program includes four sizes: 1 oz ($50), 1/2 oz ($25), 1/4 oz ($10), and 1/10 oz ($5). Proof and burnished collector versions command premiums over spot price.
