The 2021 (P) American Innovation Dollar - New York, Position B is a dollar minted at the Philadelphia Mint, within the American Innovation Dollars 2018 to Date series. The U.S. Mint produced 453,750 examples, making this the lowest mintage among 16 mint variants, representing only 6% of total production. The obverse features the Statue of Liberty with a geared background representing innovation and the reverse displays rotating designs honoring innovations and innovators from each state and territory. This coin honors the 363-mile Erie Canal completed in 1825, which connected the Great Lakes to the Atlantic Ocean, dramatically reduced shipping costs, and fueled the growth of New York City as a commercial hub. New Hampshire (the first home video game system — Ralph Baer), Virginia (the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel), New York (the Erie Canal), and North Carolina (the first public university — University of North Carolina).
