The 2020 (S) Salt River Bay National Park Quarter is a quarter produced at the San Francisco Mint as part of the America the Beautiful Quarters 2010-2021 series. The U.S. Mint produced 2 million examples, making this the lowest mintage among 20 mint variants, representing only 5% of total production. The obverse features George Washington facing left, based on a 1786 bust by Jean-Antoine Houdon and the reverse displays unique designs featuring national parks and sites from each state and territory. The reverse depicts a red mangrove tree in early growth stages. Salt River Bay marks the only documented site where members of a Columbus expedition set foot on what is now U.S. territory, and it protects a remarkable mangrove estuary. National Park of American Samoa (AS), Weir Farm (CT), Salt River Bay (VI), Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller (VT), and Tallgrass Prairie (KS) were featured. The final full year of the program, with pandemic-related production adjustments.
