The 2020 (P) American Innovation Dollar - South Carolina, Position B is a dollar produced at the Philadelphia Mint as part of the American Innovation Dollars 2018 to Date series. The obverse features the Statue of Liberty with a geared background representing innovation and the reverse displays rotating designs honoring innovations and innovators from each state and territory. This coin honors educator and civil rights activist Septima Poinsette Clark, whose pioneering Citizenship Schools taught literacy to thousands of disenfranchised Black Americans, enabling them to register to vote.
