The 2019 (S) Proof War in the Pacific National Park - Silver Quarter is a proof quarter struck at the San Francisco Mint, part of the America the Beautiful Quarters 2010-2021 series. The U.S. Mint produced 490,829 examples, making this the lowest mintage among 10 mint variants, representing only 4% of total production. The obverse features George Washington facing left, based on a 1786 bust by Jean-Antoine Houdon and the reverse displays unique designs featuring national parks and sites from each state and territory. The reverse depicts American forces coming ashore at Asan Bay during the fight for Guam's liberation. The park preserves battlefields and sites from the Pacific Theater of World War II, including the Japanese occupation and liberation of Guam. Lowell (MA), American Memorial (MP), War in the Pacific (GU), San Antonio Missions (TX), and Frank Church River of No Return (ID) were released. American Memorial Park (Northern Mariana Islands) honored WWII Pacific Theater veterans. As a proof issue, this coin was struck multiple times on specially prepared polished planchets using polished dies, producing mirror-like fields and frosted design elements prized by collectors.
