2019 Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-002

Description

Identified by the Wexler Team under the designation 2019-P 25¢ MA WDDR-002, this America the Beautiful Quarter exhibits doubling on the outside of the wheel's spoke closest to the woman's arm on the Lowell National Historical Park reverse — a subtle displacement visible under magnification where the secondary hub impression shifted the spoke outline slightly outward from its primary position. The obverse carries multiple die markers: light die chipping on the ERTY in LIBERTY, a small die gouge in the upper opening of the M in AMERICA, and a small die gouge in the lower opening of the E in AMERICA. The reverse exhibits its own deterioration diagnostics including a die crack on the lower right corner of the clock tower, a thin die crack along the back of the mill girl's right arm, die chips in the mill girl's hair, and a large die gouge at the mill girl's forehead. No cross-references to other cataloging systems are currently known beyond the Wexler designation. The 2019 Massachusetts quarter depicts the Lowell National Historical Park, featuring a mill girl working at a power loom within the textile mills that defined Lowell's Industrial Revolution heritage.
