Description
The 2019 (P) Frank Church River of No Return National Park 5 oz Silver Quarter is a quarter produced at the Philadelphia Mint as part of the 5 oz. America the Beautiful Silver Quarters 2010 to Date series. The obverse features George Washington facing left, based on a 1786 bust by Jean-Antoine Houdon and the reverse displays unique designs featuring national parks and sites — struck in 5 ounces of .999 fine silver at a massive 76.2mm diameter. The reverse depicts a pilot navigating a drift boat through rapids surrounded by towering rock formations and dense forest. The Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness is the largest contiguous wilderness area in the lower 48 states at 2.3 million acres. A modern issue from an era of rotating coin designs, collector-focused programs, and renewed interest in numismatic artistry.
