Description

The 2015 (D) Saratoga National Park Quarter is a quarter minted at the Denver Mint, within the America the Beautiful Quarters 2010-2021 series. The U.S. Mint produced 215.8 million examples, making this ranked 8th of 15 mint variants by mintage, with 7% of production. The obverse features George Washington facing left, based on a 1786 bust by Jean-Antoine Houdon and the reverse displays unique designs featuring national parks and sites from each state and territory. The reverse depicts British General Burgoyne surrendering his sword to American General Gates. Saratoga preserves the site of the 1777 battles widely considered the turning point of the Revolutionary War, as the American victory convinced France to enter as an ally.
