The 2013 (W) Proof Helen Taft First Spouse Ten Dollar Gold is a proof dollar struck at the West Point Mint, part of the First Spouse Gold 2007 to Date series. With a mintage of 2,598, this is a rare issue — ranked 8th of 10 mint variants by mintage, with 11% of production. The obverse features a portrait of the presidential spouse (or a representation of Liberty for unmarried presidents) and the reverse displays a scene from the life of the featured spouse. Wife of William Howard Taft who was instrumental in bringing 3,000 Japanese cherry trees to Washington, D.C., in 1912, which remain a beloved annual attraction.
