The 2013 (W) Proof 5-Star Generals Commemorative Five Dollar Gold is a proof commemorative dollar struck at the West Point Mint. With a mintage of 15,844, this is a scarce commemorative issue. The gold coin in the 5-Star Generals program, this $5 piece features Douglas MacArthur, perhaps the most iconic American general of the 20th century. The obverse features a portrait of General Douglas MacArthur with 5-star insignia, while the reverse displays the Leavenworth Lamp, symbol of the Command and General Staff College. Designed by Donna Weaver/Don Everhart. Struck in 90% gold, 10% copper, weighing 8.36 grams, 21.6 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #517657.
