Description

The Position B counterpart of the 2013 William McKinley Presidential Dollar WDDR-004 shares identical die characteristics with its Position A sibling — doubling at the intersection of the second clockwise ray and Liberty's right arm, with the same diagnostic die gouge northwest of "25th" on the obverse. What differentiates this listing is the edge lettering orientation: Position B coins display inscriptions that read upside-down when the obverse faces upward. This occurs because Presidential Dollar edge lettering was applied in a separate operation after striking, and coins could enter the edge lettering machine in either orientation. Attributed by the Wexler Team as 2013P $1 WM WDDR-004 with no known cross-references, this variety appeals to Presidential Dollar specialists who seek both positions to complete their die variety census. The two-position system effectively doubles the number of collectible die varieties across the Presidential Dollar series (2007–2016).
