Description

DDR-003 of the 2012-P Denali National Park America the Beautiful quarter exhibits a light westward spread appearing as an extra lower back neck on the Dall sheep ram featured in the reverse design. The Denali quarter, representing Alaska's iconic national park, depicts a ram standing on a rocky ridge with Mount McKinley in the background. Cataloged under UVC-1968 and DMR-004, this variety is documented across three die stages. Stage A shows the reverse in early die state and the obverse at mid-die state. Stage B is listed as mid-die state but remains unconfirmed. Stage C advances the reverse to late die state and is identified by a die chip on the bust west of the designer's initials, progressing into very late die state. The Dall sheep ram's muscular neck area provides a favorable zone for detecting doubled die displacement, as the curved contours of the animal amplify even light westward spread into a visible extra profile line. America the Beautiful quarter doubled dies remain actively collected by specialists pursuing the full ATB variety set.
