Description

On the Denali National Park ATB quarter's reverse, a light westward spread creates an extra lower back neck on the Dall sheep, the hallmark of DDR-002. Cataloged by VarietyVista as UVC-1967, DMR-003, this variety appears on regular strike examples from the America the Beautiful series. Three die stages are recorded: Stage A presents both reverse and obverse in early die state; Stage B remains unconfirmed at mid-die state; and Stage C reaches a late die state reverse with a die gouge in the field directly in front of the sheep's forehead. The Denali design, showcasing a Dall sheep standing before the towering profile of North America's tallest peak, was the fifteenth issue in the ATB quarter program. DDR-002 rewards patient searching, as the doubling on the animal's neck requires careful examination under magnification to distinguish from strike anomalies.
