Description

This 2012 Philadelphia Mint Denali National Park quarter carries the DDR-001 designation as the primary doubled die reverse for this America the Beautiful series issue. The doubling shows a light spread directed West, creating an extra outline on the lower back of the Dall sheep's neck, the prominent ram featured in the reverse design. Die marriage DMR-002 in confirmed Stages A and C, with Stage B unconfirmed. Attributed by VarietyVista. The Denali quarter, honoring what was formerly known as Mount McKinley National Park in Alaska, features a Dall sheep standing on a rocky ridge with the towering peak of Denali in the background. As DDR-001, this is the first and most significant doubled die reverse cataloged for the 2012 Denali issue, and the doubling on the ram's neck provides a clear diagnostic since the animal's muscular neck contour offers a well-defined area to examine under magnification.
