Description

The 2011 (S) United States Army Dollar is a commemorative dollar struck at the San Francisco Mint. With a mintage of 43,512, this is a scarce commemorative issue. Authorized to commemorate the founding of the United States Army on June 14, 1775, when the Continental Congress authorized the enlistment of riflemen to serve in the American Revolution. The obverse features busts of a male and female soldier with a large globe behind them, representing the Army's worldwide deployment, while the reverse displays the Great Seal of the United States as worn on Army dress uniforms, with the seven core Army values inscribed. Designed by Richard Masters/Susan Gamble. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 26.73 grams, 38.1 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #506163.
