Description
The 2011 (D) Jefferson Nickel, struck at the Denver Mint, is part of the Jefferson Nickels Return to Monticello 2006 to Date collection. The U.S. Mint produced 540.2 million examples, making this the higher-mintage of the two mint variants, representing 55% of production. The obverse features Thomas Jefferson facing forward in a three-quarter view, the first forward-facing portrait on a U.S. circulating coin and the reverse displays Monticello in a refined depiction.
