2009-D Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-027
Error
Description
WDDR-027 is a doubled die reverse variety on the 2009-D Lincoln Bicentennial Cent depicting the Early Childhood design — a log cabin on the Kentucky frontier — attributed by the Wexler Team and catalogued as Wexler Variety ID 2009-D 1¢ EC WDDR-027. Doubling shows on the upper and lower right sides of log end number 7, a subtle but confirmable feature on the cabin wall. Die markers provide additional authentication: a short, horizontal die gouge is present to the left of the bottom of the L in LIBERTY, and a pre-die crack depression runs northwest through the eyebrow and into the forehead. This variety carries documented market values: AU specimens are valued at $2, MS-60 at $3, MS-63 at $5, and MS-65 at $7. The 2009-D cent was struck in copper-plated zinc at Denver. Cross-reference: Wexler Variety ID: 2009-D 1¢ EC WDDR-027. Vertical die scratches can be found between the M and E in AMERICA.
