2009-D Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-008

Description

Cataloged by the Wexler Team as 2009-D 1-cent EC WDDR-008, this Lincoln Bicentennial Cent from the Early Childhood (Birth and Early Childhood in Kentucky) reverse design displays doubling on multiple log end features: the bottom left and bottom right sides of log end #8, both sides of and below log end #9, and the bottom left side of log end #10. The log cabin design by Desmond Stuart-Alexander, depicting the cabin where Abraham Lincoln was born near Hodgenville, Kentucky, provides exceptionally detailed diagnostic locations because each numbered log end serves as a discrete reference point for mapping hub displacement. Obverse die markers include a short diagonal die scratch well south of the L in LIBERTY. Reverse markers include two small die gouges just above the grass north of the J in the designer's initials JL; a small die gouge dot just below the right side of the E in AMERICA; and a small die gouge dot to the right of the lower second A in AMERICA.
