2009-D Doubled Die Reverse DDR-010
Error
Description
On the Lincoln Bicentennial "Log Cabin" reverse celebrating Abraham Lincoln's birth in Kentucky, DDR-010 presents light spread in the east direction visible as extra log ends on logs number 8 and 10 counted from the bottom of the cabin structure. Lazar Shagin's Log Cabin design, one of four rotating reverses issued during 2009 to mark the bicentennial of Lincoln's birth, features a rustic cabin constructed of horizontal logs — each log end providing a compact diagnostic area where even subtle eastward displacement becomes detectable under magnification. Die markers cataloged under UVC-2783 and DMR-012 track three stages: Stage A with both reverse and obverse in Early Die State, Stage B at Mid-Die State (unconfirmed), and Stage C at Late Die State (unconfirmed). The Denver Mint struck this variety, one of ten documented DDRs for the 2009-D Log Cabin issue. Cataloged by VarietyVista, the Bicentennial cent program's four distinct reverse designs created an unusually concentrated opportunity for die variety production, as the Mint prepared separate die pairs for each design across two facilities.
