Description
The 2007 (D) Sacagawea Dollar is a dollar produced at the Denver Mint as part of the Sacagawea & Native American Dollars 2000 to Date series. The U.S. Mint produced 3.9 million examples, making this the higher-mintage of the two mint variants, representing 52% of production. The obverse features Sacagawea carrying her infant son Jean Baptiste Crapeau on her back and the reverse displays rotating designs honoring Native American contributions to the United States. The reverse depicts a soaring bald eagle encircled by 17 stars. This original Sacagawea dollar design was used from 2000 through 2008. Production continued for collector products as the Presidential Dollar absorbed the circulating dollar coin role. Struck at the Denver Mint, established in 1906 from an earlier assay office that processed Colorado gold rush metal. Estimated market value ranges from $1 to $6 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 88.5% copper, 6% zinc, 3.5% manganese and 2% nickel, weighing 8.1 grams, 26.5 mm in diameter, with a plain edge. Cataloged as PCGS #149564.
