2006-D Doubled Die Reverse DDR-004
Error
Description
Capturing only the lowest segment of the column, the 2006-D DDR-004 Lincoln Memorial cent displays light westward spread producing an extra column #7 visible from the shin to the pedestal. This shin-to-pedestal extent is an unusually restricted lower-only range, beginning well below the seated figure's knee and extending down to the column's base where it meets the Memorial floor. Most column #7 varieties span broader vertical segments, making DDR-004's narrow lower-only diagnostic distinctive among Memorial cent DDRs. Cataloged under UVC-2889 / DMR-006 by VarietyVista, die stages show both reverse and obverse in Early Die State at Stage A, Mid Die State (Stage B, unconfirmed), and Late Die State (Stage C, unconfirmed). The EDS confirmation at Stage A means the earliest known specimens should display clean, sharp detail in the column base area where the ghost image appears. Light-spread classification requires magnification to resolve the narrow separation between primary and secondary images. As a Denver Mint issue from the penultimate full year of the Memorial reverse design, DDR-004 documents hub doubling from the late period of this iconic reverse's five-decade production run.
