Description

Bearing the high catalog number DDR-014 — indicative of extensive die study for the 2005-S Minnesota State Quarter — this VarietyVista-cataloged clad proof exhibits a medium spread to the middle right of the third tree on the reverse. Minnesota's "Land of 10,000 Lakes" reverse features a lakeside scene with trees, a fishing boat, and a loon, with the trees providing fine detail susceptible to showing hub displacement. The medium spread produces visible secondary contours on the trunk and foliage under moderate magnification. Three die stages are documented: Stage A with reverse and obverse confirmed in early die state, Stage B tentatively in mid-die state (unconfirmed), and Stage C tentatively in late die state (unconfirmed). Die markers UVC-1893 and DMR-016 identify the working die. This San Francisco Mint clad proof was struck in copper-nickel clad composition with John Flanagan's George Washington obverse. Examine the third tree's right side under magnification for the medium-intensity displacement.
