Description

Cataloged as one of several West-side column varieties for the 2005 Philadelphia cent, DDR-036 shows medium spread on column #7 — the westernmost column of the Lincoln Memorial — with the doubling extending from the shoulder level down to the shin. Column #7 sits on the left side of the Memorial facade as viewed on the coin, and West-direction spread pushes the secondary column image further leftward from the primary. The shoulder-to-shin extent means the extra column line spans most of the column's visible length but stops short of the pedestal, distinguishing DDR-036 from varieties where the spread reaches the full column height. Medium classification confirms the secondary image separates clearly from the primary under moderate magnification. Die stage progression documents three states: Stage A at Early Die State, Stage B at Mid Die State (unconfirmed), and Stage C at Late Die State (unconfirmed). The 2005 Lincoln Memorial cent produced an unusually high number of column-doubling DDRs at Philadelphia, with column #7 West varieties being the most frequently cataloged direction.
