2005 Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-002

Description

WDDR-002 on the 2005-P Lincoln Memorial Cent was struck in copper-plated zinc — the composition introduced in 1982 consisting of a thin copper outer layer over a zinc core. The reverse carries doubling documented by the Wexler attribution system. Die markers on both sides of the coin aid attribution: on the obverse, a die crack runs north-northwest from the eyebrow through the forehead of Lincoln's portrait — a visually striking marker that bisects one of the most prominent features of the obverse design; on the reverse, two die gouges are located to the right of the T in CENT, and a die crack extends northeast from the top of the second column of the Lincoln Memorial. The forehead die crack is among the more diagnostic obverse markers on any Lincoln Memorial Cent, as it crosses the portrait in a readily visible location. Die Markers

• Obverse: A die crack runs NNW from the eyebrow through the forehead. Reverse: Two die gouges (dots) can be found to the right of the center of the T in CENT. A die crack runs NE from the top of the 2nd column.
