Description

The 2004 (P) Proof Lewis & Clark Dollar is a proof commemorative dollar struck at the Philadelphia Mint. The U.S. Mint produced 351,989 examples. Authorized for the 1905 Lewis and Clark Centennial Exposition in Portland, Oregon, commemorating the famous 1804-1806 expedition that explored the American West from St. The obverse features a bust of Meriwether Lewis facing left, while the reverse displays a bust of William Clark facing left. Designed by Donna Weaver. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 26.73 grams, 38.1 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #921005. Both dates are scarce, with the 1904 having a net mintage of 10,025 and the 1905 just 10,041. The unique dual-portrait format — with Lewis on one side and Clark on the other — makes this the only U.S. coin featuring two different explorers.
