2004 Doubled Die Reverse DDR-027

Description

Recorded as UVC-2899 / DMR-030 by VarietyVista, the 2004 DDR-027 is a Philadelphia Lincoln Memorial cent showing medium spread to the west, producing an extra column #7 from the head to the knee. While closely related to DDR-026, which spans face-to-knee on the same column, DDR-027's doubling begins slightly higher — at Lincoln's head rather than his face — and originates from a separate working die with its own incidental surface markers. The head-to-knee extent covers the upper half of the statue's height, making the ghost column visible across the zone where the Memorial's interior is most detailed. Each of these 2004 column #7 varieties represents a distinct steel die that received its doubled impression from the same or a similarly misaligned hub, yet the subtle differences in vertical extent and die-specific scratches allow attribution to individual working dies. Confirmed at Early Die State (Stage A), the crisp secondary image should be clearly separable from the primary column under moderate magnification.
