2004-D Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-008

Description

Strong doubling on the Memorial floor between the first four columns and the top of the left post distinguishes WDDR-008 on the 2004 Denver Mint Lincoln Memorial Cent. The floor doubling creates secondary impressions in the horizontal platform area at the base of the facade, where geometric floor lines display hub displacement as parallel secondary features. The left post doubling adds a vertical element complementing the horizontal floor displacement. Cross-referenced as Crawford CDDR-003 and cataloged under Wexler Variety ID 2004-D 1¢ WDDR-008, this variety is noted as similar to but not as strong as WDDR-001, providing a comparative reference within the 2004-D doubled die reverse census. The EPU spread westward adds motto-area doubling to the architectural diagnostics, extending pickup zones beyond the building. Frank Gasparro's Memorial reverse, produced from 1959 through 2008, provides the columned design where floor-area hub doubling creates secondary impressions between the geometric column bases. The dual Wexler and Crawford attributions confirm established recognition. Reverse: Two die gouges can be found between the bottoms of the L and U in PLURIBUS. Die gouges can be found at the lower most corner of the steps on the right Memorial base.
