Description

Serving as the Denver Mint counterpart to Philadelphia's DDR-025, the 2004-D DDR-006 Lincoln Memorial cent also exhibits medium eastward spread generating an extra column #6 from the elbow to the foot. Though the directional spread and body extent match the Philadelphia variety, this DDR-006 originates from an entirely separate working die produced at a different facility, and its specific die markers will differ accordingly. Column #6 captures eastward hub displacement because the shifted secondary image overlaps the first column to Lincoln's left. The elbow-to-foot range spans a generous vertical segment of the column, providing a broad diagnostic zone. Cataloged under UVC-2987 / DMR-007 by VarietyVista, die stages show both reverse and obverse in Early-to-Mid Die State (EMDS) at Stage A, Mid Die State at Stage B (unconfirmed), and Late Die State at Stage C (unconfirmed). Medium-spread classification means the ghost column separation is visible under standard numismatic magnification. Collectors comparing this variety against the Philadelphia DDR-025 will find the die-specific markers essential for distinguishing the two.
