2001 Doubled Die Reverse DDR-035

Description

Assigned UVC-3280 / DMR-037 by VarietyVista, the 2001 DDR-035 is a Philadelphia Lincoln Memorial cent with medium spread to the west, generating an extra column #7 from the hand to the ankle. This variety extends the ghost column significantly farther than the elbow-to-shin range of DDR-029 from the same year, capturing nearly the full height of the seated Lincoln figure with the exception of the very base at the foot. Confirmed at Early Die State (Stage A), the extended vertical span of the doubling makes DDR-035 one of the more visually prominent westward column #7 varieties for 2001. The hand-to-ankle measurement indicates that the hub misalignment was sufficient to produce a continuous secondary column image across roughly four-fifths of the statue's seated height. On Frank Gasparro's Memorial reverse design, used from 1959 through 2008, the twelve columns framing the interior are rendered in fine relief, and any lateral hub shift registers as a parallel ghost column that experienced collectors can identify under moderate magnification.
