Description

Among the numerous 2001 Philadelphia cent DDRs cataloged in the Memorial reverse series, DDR-033 stands out for its medium westward spread producing an extra column #7 with a hand-to-ankle extent. This body range captures the central and lower portions of the column, from Lincoln's resting hand down through the lower leg to the ankle — bypassing the upper shoulder area where some other varieties begin. Medium-spread classification indicates sufficient hub displacement for the ghost column to be identifiable under standard numismatic magnification. Cataloged under UVC-3278 / DMR-035 by VarietyVista, die stages reveal an Early-to-Mid Die State (EMDS) at Stage A for both reverse and obverse, meaning the die was already showing transitional characteristics from its earliest documented specimens.
