Description

Visible as an extra column number 7 from elbow to shin and an additional set of knees between the statue's knees, DDR-027 on the 2001 Philadelphia Mint Lincoln Memorial Cent demonstrates a medium-spread westward doubled die reverse. The doubling targets the statue of Lincoln seated inside the Memorial — one of the most intricate elements on the reverse, where even moderate hub displacement produces perceptible image separation. Column 7, the rightmost column visible on the Memorial facade, sits near the rim where doubling is often most evident. Tracked by VarietyVista under UVC-3272 and DMR-029, this variety's die stages begin with Stage A showing both reverse and obverse in early die state. Stages B (mid-die-state) and C (late die state) remain unconfirmed, meaning specimens at those progression levels have yet to be verified. Confirmation of later die stages would help establish the total production life of this die and potentially reveal additional die markers that develop as the die wears. The twenty-seventh DDR listing for the 2001 Philadelphia Cent reflects the depth of variety research on this high-mintage modern date.
