Description

Fourth Class VIII tilted hub doubled die reverse documented by CONECA for the 1999 Denver Mint Lincoln Memorial Cent, carrying the designation 4-R-VIII. Having four separate Class VIII reverse listings on a single date and mint is notable — it means four different working dies each received a tilted hub impression at a detectably different orientation or magnitude, each creating a unique pattern of doubling. Class VIII doubling pivots around an axis point on the die face, and the direction and degree of that pivot determine which design elements show the greatest displacement.
