Description

WDDR-003 is among the earliest-numbered entries in the remarkable 1998 Philadelphia Lincoln Memorial Cent doubled die reverse series, documented by the Wexler Team as Wexler Variety ID 1998 1¢ WDDR-003. The year 1998 produced an extraordinary quantity of certified DDR varieties — well over ninety distinct die pairs — making it one of the most prolific doubled die years in the entire Lincoln cent series. Three hub markers serve as diagnostic confirmation tools for attributing 1998 DDRs: the hub marker positioned above the N in UNUM is visible on this die, the hub markers at the tops of Memorial bays 7 and 8 are visible, and the roof hub markers are likewise present. These shared hub markers reflect the common working hub from which multiple reverse dies were derived that year. The 1998 Lincoln Memorial Cent was struck in copper-plated zinc at the Philadelphia Mint. Cross-reference: Wexler Variety ID: 1998 1¢ WDDR-003.
