Coin Details
Description
The 1996-RHM (Royal Hawaiian Mint) W. Dala, cataloged as Krause X-MB123, is a silver trade piece from the Royal Hawaiian Mint's continuing commemorative program. The W. prefix in the denomination stands for Wahi or another Hawaiian modifier, distinguishing this issue from standard Dala pieces in the series. The Royal Hawaiian Mint's production through the mid-1990s maintained the tradition established by the original Hawaiian Mint, producing precious metal commemoratives in Hawaiian-themed designs for the collector and tourist markets. By 1996, the accumulated series of MB-numbered issues provided collectors with a substantial and growing catalog of Hawaiian numismatic material to pursue. This piece represents the penultimate year of major Royal Hawaiian Mint silver Dala production as cataloged by PCGS, with the 1997 issues completing the series.
Rarity Notes
